
Burkina Faso is a landlocked nation in west Africa. 2009 population estimate is close to 16 million. After gaining independence from France in 1960, the country underwent many governmental changes until arriving at its current form, a semi-presidential republic. The president is Blaise Compaoré. The country occupies the sixth to last place on the Human Development Index.
ABC Children's Aid Burkina Faso
ABC Children´s Aid was established in Burkina Faso in 2008.

Hinrik Thorsteinsson and Gudny Jonasdottir are overseeing the work of ABC Children´s Aid in Burkina Faso together with Trudy and Eli who live in Bobo in Burkina Faso.
The first ABC school with 100 students was started in Bobo in September 2008.
ABC Children's Aid has been given a land for both primary and secondary schools so help could be extended to as many children as possible.
